5:30 PM - 4th Annual "I Love Eastport" Dinner - Help thank your favorite volunteers. Volunteers help make Eastport special. They bake, garden, build, organize events, care for those in need, tutor, staff offices, and represent us by holding city-appointed positions. They drive, shop, shovel, read, and decorate the streets for the seasonal holidays. They give countless hours of time and dedication because they believe in Eastport and the importance of community. Our dinner will be held at the new location of the Eastport Arts Center, 34 Washington Street, where your nominees will be presented with a certificate and flower. Let’s show our Volunteers how they make a difference! Dinner tickets are available for a $6 donation through the Eastport for Pride office, 93 Water Street, 853-2400.

6:30 PM - 8:30 PM - Washington County Council of Governments sponsoring public meeting to review proposed changes to shoreland zoning guidelines - University of Maine in Machias, Room: Science 102 - Join Tracy Thibault of the Department of Environmental Protection for a 2 hour public input session on the proposed changes to the Shoreland Zoning Guidelines. A public hearing on the final version of the guidelines will be held in the spring of 2005. The public meeting in Machias will provide DEP with input to complete the final version. Copies of the proposed changes will be available at the February 17th meeting, they will also be available on-line soon for downloading (no URL available at press time). Call Tracy Thibault (941-4116) in the Bangor office of DEP for the web address to review a copy before the meeting.
