Various - Pathfinders - Hiking in the area - Call 733-4984 for details.1:00 PM - Chamber Music Concert - Performing Arts Center at the University of Maine at Machias - Here's your chance to hear some new and perhaps even occasionally outrageous chamber music performed by four hotshots from the Bangor Symphony Orchestra. On the program are two string quartets by Greg Biss, one dating from 1997 and the other from 1967, and a new quartet by Adrienne Elisha. You might have heard some of Greg's music at SummerKeys, as incidental music for StageEast, MYSTI, or Magnificent Liars productions, and/or as played by Eastport Strings. Here is an opportunity to hear some of his non-theatrical music intended for consenting adults. Miss Elisha's quartet will be receiving its premiere performance; another of her compositions, Indigo Sun, is soon to be performed by the Chamber Orchestra of Boston. The performers are Washington County's own Trond Saeverud and Lynn Brubaker on violin, Mary Jo Carlsen on viola and cellist Marisa Solomon. NO ADMISSION CHARGE.

6:00 PM - 8:00 PM - Dance Eastport will present an evening of "sacred circle dancing" at the Eastport Arts Center. The dances will be taught by Rick Cadieux of New Hampshire. He is the brother of Eastport artist Arthur Cadieux.
Sacred circle dancing is similar to folk dancing but is done in a circle around a decorative center piece. It is made up of traditional dances from around the world as well as newly choreographed dances, and includes music from countries such as Brazil, Hungary, Israel, Greece, Russia, Romania, Ireland and Germany as well as the U.S. and Canada.
Dances range from fast and furious to very slow and meditative. No partner or special skills of any kind are needed. All dances are taught, and all beginners are welcome. The dances are meant to be a means for relaxation, joy, growth, awareness and healing and fun. The arts center is located at 36 Washington Street. A small donation to help with expenses will be accepted. For more information, call Ann at 853-2633.
