2:00 PM - 1:00 AM - Benefit Concert to Help Gabe Lowery Family - Twin Spruces Bar and Grill on Route 189 in West Lubec. Gabe is facing an extended stay at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston due to complications from cystic fibrosis. Funds raised at this event will help defray the multitude of costs and help his family remain with him in Boston during this challenging time. Gabe and his wife, Shyla, live in Lubec where Gabe is an employee of Lubec Consolidated School and Shyla works for the Regional Medical Center at Lubec. Gabe is a prolific musician who has performed across Maine, plays locally with the band r.e.bell, and offers music lessons at the Cobscook Community Learning Center. Gabe’s musician friends and others have pulled together to organize this benefit concert. Area bands, including r.e.bell, Home Brew, Angeline the Baker, Pieces of String, and many more, will perform throughout the event. Additionally, funds raised through an auction, 50/50 raffle, 15% of the food sales, and proceeds of sales of local music CD’s will benefit Gabe and his family. Twilight - A Natural Wonder: at twilight--about 30 minutes after sunset, scan the southwest horizon for Mercury and Jupiter to the right of the thin waxing crescent Moon, and the star, Antares to the left of the moon and slightly above. Quite an arrangement. (Binoculars helpful!)

This unforgettable, unique comedy was so popular in the late 1960s that it is still one of the era’s most fondly remembered cult classics. Directed by Philip de Broca and starring Alan Bates as a WWI Scottish soldier, alone on a special military mission behind enemy lines in a little French town, where he gets caught yet between two other fronts, the insane and brutal world of fighting armies and the gentle, innocent world of the residents of the local insane-asylum. In English, French and German with subtitles. Presented by St. Croix River Valley Arts Council and hosted by the Unobskey School in Calais. Everybody is welcome! There is no admission charge. Readers for the evening's eldritch entertainment include: Barbara "Beddoes" Barrett, Jonah "Mad Dog" Baskerville, Fred "Nevermore" Engel, David "Chainsaw" Orrell, Henry "The Butcher" Schuth, Jonathan "Icepick" Sisson and Linda "The Stalker" Sisson.
