Who We Are

Eastport for Pride was founded in April 2001 as a non-profit corporation, registered in the State of Maine, to preserve and revitalize downtown Eastport. Its structure is based on the nationally recognized National Main Street Center, a division of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Membership is open to anyone who supports its mission. No dues are required.

In its first year, volunteer efforts improved the climate for private investment-and, importantly, produced a renewed sense of life and activity downtown. First year accomplishments include:

  • More than 2,000 volunteer hours
  • $16,000 for long-range planning
  • Local and state partnerships

Our Partners

Locally, we work with other private organizations, such as the Chamber of Commerce, Tides Institute, and Border Historical Society, and with our city government. At the state level, our principal state partners are the Eastern Maine Development Corporation (EMDC) and the Maine Downtown Center (MDC).

EMDC - A non-profit dedicated to business and community development in eastern Maine, located in Bangor. Helps with project financing, downtown development, and business recruitment.

MDC - A division of the Maine Development Foundation, a private non-profit corporation, selected to administer the Maine Street Program in Maine. Located in Augusta. Provides professional services. No monetary funding.
